Commit to Beat Cancer - Frequently Asked Questions

We are calling on politicians to join us in helping to make cancer outcomes in Wales among the best in Europe in the next 10 years. The five year survival rates in Wales still lag behind the best countries in Europe (such as Sweden, Norway and Finland).

We are asking candidates to commit to a new comprehensive cancer strategy for Wales, to take action on the following key areas:

• Detect cancer earlier
• Provide world class cancer treatments
• Prevent more cancers
• Tackle cancer inequalities
• Protect Wales’s research base

We need you to join us in this vision too. We’re asking our supporters to shout out about cancer in the run up to the next Welsh Assembly election. We need you to email the assembly candidates in your local area asking them to sign our cancer commitment.

We are asking them to sign up to a commitment to a new comprehensive cancer strategy for Wales that contains our five campaign goals. If they make this commitment we know that, if they are elected, we can call on them to help us beat cancer in the future. By doing this we hope to raise awareness of Cancer Research UK and build support for our vision that together we will beat cancer. This will help us to reach our ambitious goal of making cancer outcomes in Wales among the best in Europe in the next ten years.
