Jean Fyfe, Cancer Campaigns Ambassador: Hello, my name’s Jean Fyfe, I’m the Cancer Research UK Ambassador for South Warrington in Cheshire. I got involved with Cancer Research UK through Race for Life and after doing that for four years I thought, I wonder what else I can do in the autumn and the winter when the Race for Life isn’t running?
I got an email out of the blue asking if I’d consider being an Ambassador and after looking into it I thought, wow, this is something I’d really love to be involved in.
I got involved with the Ambassador programme because I’m absolutely passionate about eradicating this terrible disease which has affected my family and many, many families worldwide. I think a great way of doing that is to ensure that the government keeps all the issues high on their agenda and by being an Ambassador, I can help make that happen.
By being a Cancer Research UK Ambassador I’m meeting lots of interesting people from all walks of life, I’m receiving some really great training and great opportunities and I’m seeing areas of life and having experiences that I would never have otherwise had the opportunity to do.
If you’re passionate about beating cancer you can find out more details on the website about how you can be an Ambassador.
I look forward to meeting you.
